Tips for Protecting your Transmission
- Always heed your vehicles warning lights.
- Be mindful of any lagging, thumping or delays when shifting.
- Listen for any unusual noises such as grinding or clunking.
- Pay attention to any leaks under your car and have them addressed promptly.
- Have the fluid level and the condition of the fluid checked 3-4 times per year.
- Don't tow past your vehicle's capacity.
- Have a complete transmission service every 30,000 miles.
- Check the belts and hoses in your car. Loose or worn belts/hoses can cause vehicles to overheat. These same high temps can also damage your transmission.
- If you think you may have a problem--don't drive the car. Continuing to drive may make the problem worse or leave you stranded!
